1.5-Year-Old Who Wowed Parents With Unique Reading Skills

Elias Muthomi a toddler recently wowed his parents with his unique reading skills.

According to Nation, the boy first amazed his parents when he was just one-and-a-half years old.

Moses Gitonga and Monica Wambui realized that their son, Muthomi, could read out English words on a wall chart although he has never been into a classroom nor gone through home schooling.

At first, the parents thought that the boy had simply memorised the words by listening to adults speak.

However, they soon realised that each day, the boy could read more words accurately.

Over one year later, the boy has become a celebrity of sorts in his neighbourhood at Ngumba estate, Nairobi owing to his reading ability.

His parents had reportedly bought the reading charts to prepare him to join pre-primary once he attained the age of three years.

However, every time they showed him new writings and images, he promptly read them without any help.

“He likes watching news when most of his age mates like watching cartoons,” the father stated.

Gitonga equally notes that at two years and nine months, the boy likes to read out the names of political leaders when their images appear on TV.

The parents are nevertheless facing a dilemma on the appropriate school to take him to despite consultations with experts to establish whether the boy is a genius or simply a fast-learner.
