Police Recover 481 Bullets and 2 Guns at Lawyer Assa Nyakundi's Home

Police have seized two guns and 471 bullets in city lawyer, Assa Nyakundi's home as investigations continue regarding the death of Joseph Nyakundi, his son.

The 471 rounds of ammunition were found inside a safe in the master bedroom while in a library, detectives found one shotgun rifle at a shoe rack.

“The firearm certificate and the civilian firearm certificate ID have been forwarded to firearms licensing board for verification,” the police noted.

Sleuths also subjected Nyakundi's Toyota Allion to ballistic tests and found one spent cartridge under the mat of the front passenger seat and another inside the boot of the same vehicle.

Reports from Citizen Digital state, there were bloodstains on the upper left side of the back seat and a bullet hole visible on the backrest of the seat.

A postmortem, which is expected to be conducted on Wednesday will reveal some details including; whether the deceased sustained contact (gun in direct contact to the body) or near-contact wounds (gun not in contact to the body but very close).

The 60-year-old lawyer is still recovering at the Nairobi Hospital where he was taken after developing shock symptoms while at the Muthaiga Police Station where he was being interrogated for the shooting.

The two had just attended service at ICC Church along Mombasa Road and were heading to their home in Muthaiga North.

Nyakundi is a licensed firearm holder and his Glock pistol is equipped with three independent safety measures according to its Austrian manufacturer.
