Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga's son, Raila Junior, has opened up about a job that earned him his first salary of Ksh 10,000.
The successful businessman revealed that he worked as an accountant at an aviation company that paid him a salary he felt was a lot of money at that time.
He further elaborated that at his former post, he was tasked with handling petty cash and bookkeeping.
"My first job was working as an accountant for an aviation company. The job entailed bookkeeping, handling petty cash and just ensuring that things were running smoothly. For that, I was paid Ksh 10,000. That to me was a lot of cash back in the day," The Star quoted Junior.
In the wide-ranging interview, the opposition leader's son further revealed that his family name has had both positive and negative effects in his business endeavors as he runs a media production company.
He highlighted that some clients he served placed a high expectation on him just because his father is a renowned politician in the country.
"I am a businessman who manages his own business. I run a media production house and we mainly deal with the production of TV commercials.
"I cannot say business is easy because when people give me business they have expectations. Going by my surname the expectations placed on me are much higher compared to expectations placed on other people doing the same job," he continued.
Junior, 39, works as a film producer and refutes claims that he gets clients mostly because of his connection to his father.
He also explained that he no longer feels intense pressure for being Raila's Son.
