Babu Owino Steps in for Quintuplets' Mother Who Died

Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) - Babu Owino, on Sunday vowed to intervene on behalf of Everline Namukhula after she passed away on Sunday.

Ms Namukhula from Shisokhe Village in Navakholo died from a complication on Sunday afternoon at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) in Eldoret.

She had recently made the headlines after she successfully gave birth to quintuplets (five children), however, she has since passed away and two of her babies, both boys, died last week while under special care at the same hospital.

Babu expressed sadness over the heartwrenching story and went on to vow to ensure that the family left behind would be well looked after, including her surviving children.

"I commit to supporting her family during this trying time. We will do our best to ensure that her surviving children are looked after," he asserted in his facebook post.

He went on to castigate the Jubilee government for failing to provide universal healthcare as clearly stated among its Big Four Agenda items.

"President Uhuru Kenyatta has declared universal healthcare one of his Big Four Agenda Items. But are the National Government and Counties doing everything possible to make this a reality? No!" he divulged in his post.

According to the Daily Nation,Ms Namukhula had complained of chest pains and persistent headaches and was therefore put on an antibiotic and a blood clot test carried out.

Babu affirmed that he would raise the matter of health care service delivery in parliament, adding that the era where giving birth was a death sentence for women should have been over a long time ago.
