Man Orders Wife to Lie About Injuries After Stabbing Her 13 Times

A 26-year-old woman is recuperating at the JM Kariuki Memorial Hospital after she was stabbed 13 times allegedly by her husband on the night of April 25, 2019.

Mary Nyambura who hails from Tumaini village in Ol Kalau, Nyandarua County was then ordered by her husband to lie that she got the injuries after being involved in a bodaboda accident.

The mother of a 2- month- old baby revealed that her husband, Kennedy Gatehi had stabbed her in the neck and arms.

She went on to say that her husband stabbed her after and an argument over allegations that she was having extramarital affairs.

He stabbed me in the arms 12 times and one time in the neck. The kitchen knife he used to commit the crime is still hidden under our matrimonial bed,” explained Nyambura.

The following morning, the husband allegedly asked her “Unatakaje (what do you want)?” after which she responded with a request for medical attention.

Gatehi went on to taunt her “ama nikuue tu once (or should I just kill you once and for all)?”

Reports by a Royal Media publication stated that the victim was then taken to a nearby hospital on condition that she would say she was knocked down by a boda-boda rider.

When doctors demanded that she be admitted as an in-patient, her husband who had accompanied her to hospital blatantly refused, stating that he would not stay with a 2-month-old at home alone.

My partner and I, thereafter, went back home,” Nyambura continued to narrate.

On Thursday, May 2, the couple’s neighbours realised that Nyambura was in deep pain, and upon inquiry, she spilled the beans on what had transpired.

It is then that the neighbours took her to JM Kariuki Hospital where she was admitted.

Gatehi was consequently arrested and is being held at Mirangine Police Station as investigations continue.
