Drama as Aisha Jumwa Snatches Edwin Sifuna’s Microphone During Speech [VIDEO]

There was drama at a funeral in Malindi on Friday after the Area MP Aisha Jumwa grabbed a microphone from ODM secretary-general Edwin Sifuna forcing him to cut short his speech.

Sifuna had just begun addressing mourners on behalf of ODM leader Raila Odinga when Jumwa walked to the stage and grabbed the microphone from him, accusing him of “talking politics during the funeral”.

The ODM secretary general had requested that he be respected since he was performing his mandate by representing the party leader.

“As a messenger, I request to be given the respect the party leader would have been accorded. I have party responsibilities, and I do them without fear or favour. Sifuna did not make the law, and I am not targeting anybody,” he stated.

However, Jumwa appeared to have heard enough and that is when she confronted Sifuna.

“Mr SG, kindly refrain from politics out of respect for the dead. We are not here for ODM politics but to condole with the bereaved.”

“We shall not allow this; respect the Mijikenda. Find another platform and speak about issues relating to ODM. We are here to mourn the dead and not politics,” she stated.

Earlier on, Jumwa had caused quite a stir after she deliberately failed to mention Likoni MP  Mishi Mboko when introducing the political leaders who had gone to condole with the family of the late Edward Benjamin Kingi, Mombasa Deputy Governor William Kingi’s father.

Mboko who had gone to represent Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho, who is away in Germany on official duties was later introduced by Kingi after he took the stage and criticised the duo for fighting in public.

Among the leaders who were present included Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, Kilifi North MP Owen Baya, Michael Kingi (Magarini), Teddy Mwambire (Ganze) and Kwale Senator Juma Boy.

Others were deputy governors Gideon Saburi (Kilifi), Patrick Saisi (Vihiga), Majala Mlagui (Taita Taveta) and Lands chief administrative secretary Gideon Mung’aro.
