Julie Gichuru Lands New Prestigious State Job

Media personality Julie Gichuru is among those celebrating new government jobs following the gazettement of new state appointments.

The journalist has been appointed to the board of the Kenya Export Promotion and Brand Agency. 

The organisation is mandated to address bottlenecks facing exporters and producers of export goods and services in order to increase the performance level of the export sector.

The Council’s Board comprises public and private sector representatives on an equal basis, with a view to enhancing dialogue on matters affecting exports.

The Julie also sits on the board of Brand Kenya that is Chaired by former NMG CEO Linus Gitahi

Brand Kenya is responsible for building and enhancing the country’s image and national identity and rallying its citizens behind it.

Julie's career in the media over the past 15 years has seen her work across the fields of broadcast, print and digital media.

She pioneered an impressive number of television shows, from the first Kenyan investigative TV series, The Inside Story on KTN to various current affairs shows at NTV.

The former news anchor also worked on political and current affairs programs Showdown, On the Spot, You The Jury and The People's Voice, and the celebrated news program Sunday Live.

In 2009, Julie conceptualized and hosted Fist to Five for Change, which facilitated reconciliation and healing for victims and perpetrators of 2007/8 post-election violence in Kenya. 

Julie Gichuru is an alumnus of the Harvard Kennedy School and Oxford University’s Saïd Business School.

In 2016 Julie was selected as a member of the UN Foundation Global Journalist Corps, joining a group of esteemed and high impact journalists across the globe.
