Kiza Lounge Billionaire Deported, Here's Why

Kiza Lounge MD Ali Oumarou was ostensibly deported over alleged links to international crime.

On September 6, 2019, Nation reported that the businessman was flown back to his home country, Niger.

He came to Kenya in 2014 and owns the high-end club located in the posh Kilimani area.

It is alleged that the wealthy entrepreneur is wanted in other countries for involvement in crime.

"His work permit had expired and we realised that he was part of an international criminal gang," Wangui Muchiri from the Ministry of Interior told Nation.

Ms Muchiri, however, declined to confirm whether the government would go after his properties.

The popular nightclub has branches in Canada, Nigeria and Dubai.

Apart from Kiza Lounge, Ali has interests n real estate and music.

The Interior Ministry has been strict in cracking down on foreign businessmen who violate the law.

Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i, who was at the time flanked by Interior PS Karanja Kibicho and Immigration PS Gordon Kihalangwa, stated that the government would support investors doing business in Kenya, as long as they operated within the confines of the law.
