Ndindi Nyoro in Fresh Tussle With Uhuru

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, on Wednesday, October 2, dared President Uhuru Kenyatta to fire two of his cabinet secretaries over incompetence.

Speaking as part of a consortium of Mt Kenya leaders, the vocal legislator disclosed that Trade CS Peter Munya and his Agriculture counterpart Mwangi Kiunjuri were unfazed by the suffering of coffee farmers in the region.

He said that the farmers were immensely suffering due to low prices yet the two leaders, who are supposed to be helping them, sit in the office doing nothing.

So serious was the lawmaker's laments that, "Some have resorted to uprooting the crop.”

His laments were echoed by other leaders from the region who were also present during the presser at Parliament buildings on Wednesday, October 2.

The legislators include; Rigathi Gachagua (Mathira), Moses Kuria (Gatundu South), Rahab Mukami (Nyeri), Japheth Mutai (Bureti), Erick Muchangi (Runyenjes) and Kathuri Murungi (Imenti South).

They claimed that the two CSs had snubbed five invitations to appear before the National Assembly's trade committee at the expense of farmers.

“These CSs have let this country down. Uhuru should crack the whip and order these CSs to go and dialogue with farmers so that we can get a solution to this matter,” argued Gachagua.

“We have tried to call Munya more than five times to come to Parliament and he has refused to do so,” added Mukami.

This comes roughly a month after Nyoro was involved in a dramatic police hunt after rattling the state.

The police were after the Kiharu MP following a scuffle at the Gitui Catholic church on Sunday, September 9, between himself and nominated MP Maina Kamanda.
