Esther Passaris Delivers Uhuru's Gift to Precious Talent School Victim

Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris delivered money to a victim of the Precious Talent School tragedy, where a classroom collapsed and claimed eight lives on September 23, 2019.

Passaris visited the boy at Kenyatta National Hospital on Saturday, October 5, and gave Ksh 200,000 to his mother.

"I have brought something from President Uhuru Kenyatta and the Right Honorable Raila Odinga," she told the mother while handing her the cash.

She told the mother that the two leaders had donated Ksh100,000 each, adding that they would have visited her but were preoccupied at the time.

Passaris also mentioned that Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko had promised to visit the boy soon.

"We have decided to build a good school in the area to replace the one your son was in. I know parents protested against the closure of the school, but we are looking at the safety of the pupils," Passaris explained.

The woman representative also divulged that the county was working closely with the school to iron out any issues about moving pupils to other schools.

"The county government and my office are working to provide books to the pupils who were at Precious Talent School to ensure they make a quick transition into the new schools," she added.

The legislator pointed out that some schools had loose rails on their stairs, posing a danger to pupils and urged the hospital staff to make sure it was safe for children to walk around their facility.

"Some of the problems we have are our own. The tragedy at Precious Talent would have been avoided if we checked out the classrooms before it collapsed," Passaris confirmed.

Passaris also promised to get the boy a laptop after recovery, to help him catch up on the schoolwork he had missed while in hospital.

"I will be back next week to check on the boy," she assured as she left the ward and visited other children in the hospital to donate dolls.
