Janet Mbugua Makes Brief Comeback at Her Previous Station

Media personality Janet Mbugua on Thursday, October 31, went back to her previous work station, Capital FM where she took part in a challenge.

Janet dropped by the studio, where she was a presenter in 2013, to assist the current hosts  Amina Abdi and Fareed Kimani in completing in a 28-hour challenge.

In the challenge, the presenters sought to make history in Kenya by hosting the show interrupted for 28 hours to become the longest-running radio show in Kenya and Africa.

Taking a leaf from marathoner Eliud Kipchoge's historic run using a team, Janet was one of the personalities who were acting as 'pacesetters' engaging and encouraging the radio presenters through the final hour of the show.

Ms Mbugua used to host the daily Mid Morning Magazine show from 10am to 2pm. During her time at the station, she got to work alongside notable names in radio such as Eve D’Souza, Oyunga Pala and Phil Matthews.

"The nostalgia of being back at the Capital FM studios! My time there was surreal because I’d listened to a lot of amazing radio hosts over the years and aggressively fought my way in," she commented.

She spoke about her soon-to-be-released book titled ‘My First Time’ which she announced during the National Period Day on October 19.

After exiting Capital FM, Mbugua went on to work as a news anchor, reporter and producer of pan-African current affairs show, Africa 360 in Johannesburg, South Africa.

She later moved to Citizen TV where she hosted the Monday Special and The Big Question before she quit in 2017.

Currently, Janet is the founder of Inua Dada Foundation, an organization whose mission is to create a supportive and accessible environment for girls and women in Kenya.
