Out-of-control Trailer Rams Into 8 Vehicles

Several people are in critical condition after a trailer lost control on Thursday, November 28, and rammed into eight other vehicles along the Maai Mahiu-Limuru escarpment.

The Standard reported that the truck that was headed downhill developed mechanical problems and the driver lost control before it rammed into the oncoming vehicles.

The trailer finally crushed next to the Maai Mahiu Catholic Church also known as the 'Travellers' Church on the outskirts of Maai Mahiu town.

Police in the area stated that the accident had caused major gridlock on the road and asked motorists to use alternative routes as they work to clear the road.

Among the eight vehicles that the truck rammed into included six lorries and two personal vehicles.

The accident left hundreds of motorists stranded as the road was blocked with police tried to remove the wreckage from the road with most of the destroyed vehicles having been thrown into the ditches.

This accident came barely a week after a matatu driver rubbed Kenyans the wrong way after photos were circulated online showing him overtaking dangerously on the slopes of the escarpment road.

The Matatu from the Bomet Trasporters Sacco sped downhill in total disregard of other motorists even forcing truck drivers out of the road as they avoided colliding with it.
