Residents in Kisauni are living in fear after a man was sprayed with bullets while seated outside his house located 200 metres from a police station.

Reports by NTV indicated that 49-year-old Titus Mugavi was on Sunday, January 5, shot seven times by assailants in Mjambere Ward within Kisauni Constituency, Mombasa County.

The incident occurred at 8pm when his youngest daughter, Peris Musimbi, was inside the house preparing tea.

"Two men approached him and called him but he did not respond. It was then they fired at him on his neck, chest and hands," she told journalists.

Residents decried that gangs had taken over the neighbourhood, as the murder occurred barely 200 metres from a police station.

There have been incidences of insecurity reported in Kisauni over the past couple of months.

On June 4, 2019, a gang of 15 young men armed with machetes went on a rampage in the constituency.
