Former CS Mwangi Kiunjuri Predicted His Firing

Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri during an interview with Njogu wa Njoroge on Kameme TV on August 30, 2019, predicted his firing.

During the discussion, Kiunjuri stated that he was ready to hand over his ministry to whoever would be chosen to replace him.

The former Laikipia East MP kept referring to his departure from the ministry, prompting the show host to question him of his knowledge on whether he was on his way out.

"Strategies have been put in place and even I was told today that I was no longer the Agriculture CS, what would make me happy is that all I would do is hand over the documents and explain the plan and the ministry would be set," Kiunjuri stated.

He claimed that his team had spent close to eight months in closed-door meetings, where they laid down plans for the ministry's growth.

"For these public positions, you have to sit at the edge of your seat as you never know when you will be shown the door, you just have to go," the former CS spoke.

He also hinted that he was plotting a comeback in the political scene.

Kiunjuri revealed that he joined Parliament in 1998 as a bachelor with no car or house and he had learnt a lot in his years in the National Assembly.

"I am from a very poor background and was elected to Parliament way back in 1998 and have struggled to reach where I am today, and when the time comes the people will decide," he added.

Kiunjuri would later be fired by President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, January 14 during a cabinet reshuffle.

He would later the same day hold his own presser and announce that he was not surprised by the decision the president made.
