DCI Tactically Dismantles Armed Robbery Syndicate [PHOTOS]

Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations intercepted an armed gang responsible for a spate of violent robberies activities including robbing a police officer of his firearm.

In a statement released by the agency on Monday, February 10, detectives from the Special Service Unit embarked on an operation to track down the robbers following a series of robberies reported within Nyahururu and Nyandarua West sub-counties.

The team managed to arrest two suspects; David Kireithi Mwangi and Harrison Kihara Njiraini at Kasuku own in Nyandarua County.

"The two had been involved in several robbery-with-violence incidents which include; Violently robbing an AP officer off his Ceska Pistol on November 23, 2019," read the statement in part.

On November 30, 2019, the gang was involved in another robbery incident at Karai area where they robbed off Ksh 3,000 from their victim and dropped a Ceska pistol magazine with ten rounds of ammunition after they were confronted by motorcycle riders.

"The same gang robbed several motorists off their ignition keys along Olkalou- Nyahururu road on December 1, 2019. 

"They were involved in another robbery with violence incident on February 8, 2020, at Success bar in Nyahururu town where revellers lost their valuables," continued the statement.

Upon interrogation, they led the detectives to a makeshift structure in Nyahururu town where a Ceska pistol that had been stolen from an AP officer was recovered.

Manhunt has been launch to track down their accomplices.
