Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua had kind words for Baringo Senator Gideon Moi after he personally recognized her during the burial service for the late businessman Nginyo Kariuki.

In a tweet on her social media platforms on Tuesday, March 3, Karua thanked Moi for recognizing her as one of the guests present at the burial in Tigoni, Kiambu County.

Karua also expressed her pleasure and gratitude to the ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi who gave up part of his time to have her address the mourners.

"At the funeral of the late Nginyo Kariuki where Gideon Moi graciously recognized me when he was given a chance to speak, and Musalia Mudavadi ceded a minute of his time for me to pass my condolences! Thank you, my brothers, for having my back," she wrote on Twitter.

Gideon Moi, who was seated next to Karua during the ceremony, recognized her when he was invited to give his remarks and address the mourners.

After acknowledging the political leaders, he recognized party leaders led by Martha Karua (Narc Kenya) and Musalia Mudavadi (Amani National Congress).

When Mudavadi stood to speak, he also recognized the guests present and asked to breach the protocol and invite Karua to address the mourners too.

"Before I pay my final respects, allow me to be a little unorthodox, because in Parliament, there is a place where you say 'I need to cede a minute or two to someone else.

"I think Martha Karua deserves that because she was close to Nginyo on matters multi-partyism. I'd like her to take a bit of my time," Mudavadi stated to the crowd's applause.

Karua then eulogized Nginyo as a man who was principled both as a politician and in everything he did, and described him as a fighter to the end of his time.

After that, she took the time to thank the two leaders before resuming her seat to let Mudavadi conclude his speech.

Karua is one of the senior leaders for the Central region and is reported to have participated in the struggle for multi-partyism alongside the late businessman and politician.

She was, however, not included in the list of guests set to address mourners at the gathering.
