The government has responded to widespread mockery of two recovered Covid-19 patients, Brenda Cherotich and Brian kinda.
Speaking outside Afya House during the daily updates presser, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe condemned the act in the strongest terms possible urging Kenyans to shun the behaviour he claimed was unpalatable.
The CS further asked the police to arrest all social media users who partake in the mocking game explaining that it was degrading to the victims
"I am deeply saddened that a section of Kenyans has taken to social media to make a mockery. Yesterday, I informed you about our two young people who have recovered from this deadly coronavirus disease.
"However, some have decided to trivialise our efforts and in so doing, trivialise two Kenyans. It is shocking that some have decided to make fun and brand our efforts as a PR Exercise," stated Kagwe.
"Why would a government in relation to the World Health Organisation (WHO) decide to make a PR exercise with two different Kenyans. It is unpalatable for anyone to trivialise the lives of Kenyans.
"I condemn in strongest terms anyone who dared to do so. I appeal to security agencies to arrest social media users. It is wrong and should not happen," he added.
Kenyans cast doubt on the truthfulness of Brenda's story arguing that she had given two contrasting accounts of her experience to NTV and Citizen TV.
During her interview on NTV she stated that she was 26 years old, which contrasted with what Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced during his first presser about the pandemic.
"They said I was 27-years-old but I am 26 so I was a little confused but I later joined the dots," Brenda clarified.
While being interviewed on both stations, Brenda stated that she had received news about being the first Coronavirus patient in the country from the media.
