Kenyatta National Hospital CEO Dr Evanson Kamuri on Wednesday, April 15, warned Kenyans against being hostile to health workers especially those working in quarantine facilities.
Speaking during the daily press conference, Kamuri stated that some Kenyans visiting the facilities were physically abusing health workers.
"Let us start behaving especially for some of the people who are going into the quarantine facilities, they are becoming hostile even to the workers.
"Some of the workers have been physically abused by some of you out there," Kamuri stated.
Further, he warned the abusers, stating that health workers were putting their lives on the line and they needed to be respected.
"The least you can do as Kenyans is to give health workers support and show them some level of etiquette," he added stating that those in quarantine were getting good care.
He called upon Kenyans to take the Covid-19 virus seriously, emphasizing that the virus had no cure.
"Viruses behave differently to different people. Do not relent in your efforts just because you think people are getting well," he added.
At the same time, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that nine more individuals had tested positive for Covid-19, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 225.
He added that all the new confirmed cases were Kenyans.
So far, 53 individuals have recovered and 10 have succumbed to the disease.
