A doctor based in Mombasa has etched Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho in a book especially dedicated to him and his efforts in Mombasa County.
Suleiman Ndoro, a medical doctor by profession and an author by passion, wrote the book he titled Leading From the Front based on his admiration for the governor and his work.
Ndoro stated that the reason he decided to write a book on Joho was due to the dedication and leadership that he provided to the people of Mombasa, not only during the coronavirus pandemic but also all through his political career.
"The biggest inspiration for the book was because Joho is at the forefront of ensuring that the Mombasa residents are saved from this pandemic, and that is why the book is titled Leading From the Front.
"It is not only because he is the governor of the County 001 but because he has demonstrated leadership that earns him the top podium position based on what he has been doing for Mombasa residents," he stated.
Ndoro noted that the book was traversing Joho's life from when he started politics and to the things he has been doing ever since, and was coupled with lessons that the youth can learn from the journey.
"Joho officially started politics in 2004 where he started at the LDP party instead of running for the parliamentary seat like many others. He started small and grew step by step until he became a Governor.
"I have titled one chapter Starting Small to show the young people not to be afraid of taking chances and to start small and slowly like the governor did and make their way to the top.
He also explained that he had also written another chapter on publicity, a matter that he stated youth could really learn from Joho when he underwent political lynching as a leader in the LDP.
"When Joho was starting his political forays, he met with the late Sharrif Nassir at a time when he felt so low since he had been falsely accused, and Nassir called him to his home and told him that there was nothing like negative publicity.
"This can be a good lesson for the youth from the governor, to learn that despite the opinions that people might be having about you, you can use it to your own advantage," Ndoro stated.
Ndoro stated that Joho is still not aware that he had written the book because they have not been in contact, but he wrote because he admired the many things he had seen in him.
"I have not been paid a single cent to write this book. I wrote it because I love what he does, and there are things that I was learning from him so I thought that it would be wise for people to also learn about him.
The book, he announced, would be offered for free on his platforms to anyone who is interested in the literature, since it was simply an appreciation token.
