Murang'a commercial sex workers on Monday, May 25, received food donations from the County Women Representative Sabina Chege. The food is meant to cushion the 106 women from hard economic realities as a result of grossly effects of Covid-19.

"The commercial sex workers through their chair Gaceri as popularly known reached out on me to support them with food, citing hard times during this pandemic," said Sabina Chege.

According to a post on her Facebook page, the women told her that they were bearing the brunt of curfew and social distancing since their clients are no longer seeking their services.

Sabina stated that they discussed coming up with a long-lasting solution that would ensure they quit their business for something better.

"They did agree to engage in businesses such as hairdressing, dressmaking and baking," she continued.

In conclusion, the Woman Rep advised them to form a group in order to benefit from the Affirmative Action Fund through her office.

The Fund is one of the government's initiatives anchored on the Vision 2030 development blueprint under the Social Pillar to address the plight of vulnerable groups by reducing poverty and inequality through enhanced access to financial facilities.
