Drama ensued at Kirinyaga County Assembly as MCAs debated the motion filed to impeach Governor Anne Waiguru.

A video seen by Kenyans.co.ke showed Karumandi MCA Anthony Munene and nominated MCA Lucy Njeri being kicked out of the proceedings which were being held in a tent.

The two were objecting to their names and signatures being included in the motion.

“This is not a Kangaroo Court! This is not a kangaroo assembly. We want to withdraw our signatures!” Munene shouted as he was being pushed through the gate.

“How come people are forging our signatures? I’m not removing our governor. When you raise your voice you are thrown out,” he continued.

The MCAs are ousting the governor over claims of gross violation of the constitution.

“The governor has deliberately refused, failed and/or neglected to deliver the same for the financial year 2018- 2019 which failure amounts to a gross violation of the Constitution and the County Government Act,” reads an excerpt of the motion seen by Kenyans.co.ke.

They also accused the governor of violating Section 46 of the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act, 2015 by usurping the powers of the accounting officer in establishing an irregular tender evaluation committee.

They argued that the tender evaluation committee was composed of members who take direct instructions from the governor and conveniently alternate as chairpersons of all major tender evaluation committees.

“The governor’s said actions of interfering with the constitution of the tender evaluation committees is meant to compromise the integrity of the tendering process, the document further reads.
