16 Jubilee MPs Dismissed From Parliamentary Committees

A total of 16 National Assembly Members from the Jubilee Party on Thursday, June 18 were dismissed from their respective Parliamentary Committees.

This comes a day after four MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto were de-whipped from various committees in the National Assembly.

The legislators included Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru, Aldai MP Cornelly Serem, and Bomet Woman Representative Joyce Chepkoech Korir.

National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi in a letter seen by Kenyans.co.ke, revealed the full list of MPs dismissed from the Parliamentary Committees.

"Hon. Members, in this regard, I wish to report to the House that my office is in receipt of a letter dated 16th June 2020 from the Majority Party Whip, notifying that the Jubilee Party has discharged sixteen of its Members from certain Select Committees," read the letter in part.

The 12 other MPs that were included in the dismissal list included Mandera South MP Haji Adan who was ousted from the Departmental Committee on Agriculture & Livestock, where he has been serving as the Chairperson.

Chairperson of the Budget and Appropriations Committee Kimani Ichung'wah was also part of the dismissed MPs from the Parliamentary Committees.

Uasin Gishu Woman Representative Gladys Shollei was confirmed to have been discharged from the Select Committee on Delegated Legislation, where she has been serving as the Chairperson.

Baringo North MP William Cheptumo who was the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Justice & Legal Affairs was removed from the position.

Chairperson on the Departmental Committee on Sports, Culture and Tourism Victor Munyaka who is the Machakos Town MP was dismissed from the position.

Sirisia MP John Waluke was discharged from the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security, where he has been serving as the Vice-Chairperson.

Vice-Chairperson of the Constitutional Implementation Oversight Committee Fred Chesebe Kapondi representing Mt Elgon was discharged from the position.

Endebess MP Robert Pukose was ousted from the Departmental Committee on Energy, where he has been serving as the Vice-Chairperson.

Vice-Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs Alice Wahome was dismissed from the post while her counterpart Khatib Abdalla Mwashetani was discharged from the Departmental Committee on Lands, where he has been serving as the Vice-Chairperson.

James Lomenen Ekomwa was relieved as the Vice-Chairperson of the Select Committee on National Cohesion and Equal Opportunities.
