Citizen TV reporter John Wanyama has complained of death threats from two Uasin Gishu Members of Parliament after covering a story.

The threats were issued to the journalist after he covered a story on the poor state of roads in Kesses Sub County in Uasin Gishu.

A group of lawyers from Eldoret want the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Office of Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) to investigate the issue.

"A whole Member of Parliament can have a militia of about 20 people to threaten a journalist with death threats and the Member of Parliament is Privy to such discussion, we are going to the dogs if in one year to elections some can have a militia.

"It's not only Wanyama, the other day there was someone beaten from Kesses at Tolbis Crossroads and was locked in the car for about four hours," noted the lawyer.

The Lawyer was keen to note that Usain Gishu was once the hotspot for violence adding that a repeat of the same would happen if action was not taken.

Wanyama has already recorded a statement with DCI on alleged threats from goons hired by the members of parliament.

Residents of Kesses living along Kesses-Lessos road bemoaned the poor state of roads and called on the county government to intervene.

Kesses MP Swarup Mishra on Monday, June 22 assured his constituents that all dilapidated roads will be amended after rains pounding the region reduce.

Mishra blamed the poor roads on the heavy rains pounding the area and the numerous lorries using the roads due to investments in the area.

The MP apologised to the residents noting that the delays have been due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and heavy rains.
