In the video that surfaced on Monday, August 31, the traffic commandant threatened to arrest the policewoman but opted against the decision.

"Go tell your OCPD I was here and I said you should not use personal cars for patrol. if I take your number, you will be shocked by where you will sleep.

"You heard what we did last time? We do not want to encourage anything like that," he noted.

Inspector-General of Police Hillary Mutyambai back on Monday, February 24 announced static traffic officers will be ejected from Kenyan roads and replaced by mobile traffic officers.

"We have realised that the way we’ve been doing traffic is not the right way…officers are not going to be static in one area the whole day.

"The vehicles are marked. Serial number 1-38 and the routes. The vehicles will also be provided with the registration numbers and the names of the officers," Mutyambai stated.

The traffic commandant reiterated Mutyambai's previous remarks as he asked the policewoman if she was aware of the directive.

He warned the policewoman about having traffic officers fixed at one place and added that he should not find the static officers at the point again as he frequently uses the route.

A number of Kenyans reacted to the video on social media with some questioning why the commandant did not take the matter with the OCS.

"The 'boss' is out of order. Traffic police report to the area OCS. Instead of pulling his weight on hapless juniors, he should take it up with their boss," read one of the comments.
