As part of measures to curb the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, the County Government of Nakuru moved matatu operators from their previous bus terminus to Ziwani.

The move has caused an uproar among matatu operators who decried harassment by police officers.

So far, three pedestrians have been killed in the chases between PSV's and police vehicles.

The accident came a day after a police officer met his death on Monday, August 24, in an accident along Lang'ata Road.

According to a police report, Corporal Steven Kisavi crashed into an Audi A4 station wagon as he was riding a motorcycle.

He swerved to the other lane and crashed into another vehicle which dragged him on the road for about 100 meters.

The National Transport and Safety Authority has raised concerns over the increasing cases of road fatalities and boda boda operators.

According to recent statistics, there ia a 6.9 per cent increase in road accident deaths, with majority of casualties being pedestrians, motor cycle riders and pillion passengers.
