Kenya has recorded 98 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of cases to 37,079.
Speaking during a press briefing, Health CAS Rashid Aman on Monday, September 21, announced that 1,644 samples had been tested over the period bringing the total samples tested so far to 518,350.
Out of the 98 cases, 2 are foreigners.
Additionally, 63 are male and 35 are female with the youngest case being a 9-year-old and the oldest being 75 years old.
At the same time, 62 patients were discharged, bringing the total number of recoveries to 23,949.
Of recovered patients, 44 are from the home-based care programme while 18 are from hospitals across the country.
Regrettably, 2 patients succumbed to the disease bringing the total number of deaths to 650.
“As we enter the third week of September Nairobi continues to lead with the number of confirmed positive cases out of all the 47 counties with a cumulative total of 20,253 cases," he detailed.
Distribution of the cases by counties is as follows:
Nairobi 32, Mombasa 20, Meru 8, Uasin Gishu 8, Kiambu 5, Kisumu 4, Migori 4, Machakos 4, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kilifi, Taita Taveta and Murang'a with 2 cases each, Garissa, Kwale, Embu, Samburu, and Nakuru with 1 case each.
The 32 cases in Nairobi were recorded in the following Subcounties: Embakasi East 5, Dagoretti North and Westlands 4 cases each, Embakasi Central, Kamukunji and Roysambu with 3 cases each, Dagoretti South, Embakasi West, Kasarani and Lang'ata with 2 cases each, Kibra and Ruaraka with 1 case each.
