The President inspected a number of projects in the area including the refurbished Kisumu port and the Jomo Kenyatta International Stadium in Mamboleo ASK Grounds.

He, however, did not address the residents by the roadside as he headed to the stadium location where he directed Interior CS Matiang'i to oversee the construction of the road leading to the stadium.

"We have come here to commission the building of the Jomo Kenyatta stadium. We shall return in April 2021 and officially open it. The first match to be played will be between Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards," he stated.

The sports facility was renamed from Kisumu ASK Mamboleo Grounds in June 2020, when Sports CS Amina Mohamed commissioned its construction.

He further urged the residents to support the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and help push it forward.

"As you are all aware, we received the BBI report as we endeavour to unite all Kenyans. I want to ask all of you to read the report and support it," he noted.

"We are heading directly to the referendum and it will be successful. The report is out and some have already read it. We want 80 percent of Kenyans to vote for BBI," he stated.
