Four passengers survived a brush with death when the light aircraft they had boarded crash-landed in the Maili  Saba area of Isiolo County.

There were no casualties during the accident which involved a Cessna plane, registration number 5Y-VBB.

A spot check by Kenyans.co.ke showed that the plane is privately registered with reports indicating that it was ferrying tourists.

The plane had attempted to land on the tarmac road following a mechanical failure.

Eyewitnesses recounted to journalists that the aircraft nearly collided with an oncoming lorry and motorbike. The pilot veered off and landed in a ditch as he avoided the collision.

The occupants of the aircraft were employees of Lewa Conservancy and were en route to Nanyuki.

This comes in the wake of another plane crash in Isinya that left a KWS officer dead. The pilot lost his life on Thursday, November 19 after a chopper crashed and burst into flames in Isinya, Kajiado County.

In September, a Kenyan cargo plane crash-landed at Mogadishu’s main airport in Somalia on Saturday, injuring two of the five crew members on board.

The aircraft, a Dash-8, was on its way to deliver supplies to the African Union Mission (Amisom) forces in Beledwyene, some 335 km north of Mogadishu in Central Somalia.

Witnesses said it failed to lift while taking off and hit a perimeter wall of the airport.

The aircraft registered in Kenya as 5Y-MHT routinely operates cargo flights to and within Somalia, delivering supplies to both UN and Amisom centers.
