50 Million Women African Speak platform (50MAWSP) platform enables women in Member States of COMESA, EAC, ECOWAS and other African countries to find information on how to run businesses, where to access financial services, and how to create business opportunities.

Karanja is among Kenya's leading entrepreneurs, a remarkable trendsetter who went against all the odds to conquer the male dominated industry.

Tabitha beat all odds to become Kenya’s first home-grown beer and alcoholic drink manufacturer, a company whose production facility is targeting 20% of the Kenyan market.

She has  battled high taxation, competition and other business challenges to create a Kenyan business success story that is internationally admired.

The female entrepreneurs are nominating leaders who are an inspiration to them.

The nominees for the campaign may either be those women who run large business enterprises or those out of the limelight.

Beatrice Hamusonde, Comesa Director for Gender and Social Affairs is delighted at the responses the campaign is getting from women across the continent.

“When we rolled out this campaign, we were focusing on the Comesa region, but we are excited to see so many women from all over Africa interacting and celebrating one another,” she said.

Women who wish to participate in the campaign are required to visit the 50MAWSP site and submit short stories about their most admired businesswomen, giving reasons why and what they would tell them if they had a chance to meet them in person.
