Richard Nyaga, an attendant at the supermarket, revealed that the thugs devised a new trick they used to get away with the goods without paying.

They had two people distract the cashiers while the rest stuffed the goods into their bags before hurriedly leaving the shop.

"This incident happened around 1:30 p.m. whereby a gang of five people came at intervals. They distracted the cashier. It was one man and four ladies.

"The man distracted the cashier and one lady distracted me. The other ladies then began stealing. They took the chocolates worth Ksh 5,000 and some dread works worth Ksh4,000," stated Nyaga.

Another attendant corroborated Nyaga's story confirming that she witnessed the gang steal a lot of goods.

"I saw they had taken many things from the shelves and I would like to appeal to the authorities to track down the individuals and take action against them," she stated,

This comes as insecurity incidents surged due to the effects of Covid-19 on the economy estimated to have affected over 5 million sources of livelihoods countrywide.

On Tuesday, June 15, A suspected thief was captured on CCTV cameras stealing at a church on Sunday, June 13 after his well-orchestrated plan was put in motion.
