DCI Kinoti Reshuffles 44 Senior Officers

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has conducted reshuffles of 44 senior officers as the agency moves to beef up security during the 2022 general election. 

A report by the Standard on Tuesday, July 6, indicated that the shuffles came about after some officers retired from the workforce.

Among the affected officers is Nairobi DCI chief Bernard Nyakwaka who was sent to serve at the Airport Unit replacing DCI boss Joseph Mugwanja. 

Mugwanja was recalled back to the headquarters.

In Nyakwaka's place, Kitale DCI Chief  Paul Wachira was named as the replacement. In other changes, the anti-terror police unit head was promoted to serve as investigations boss at the agency's headquarters.

The investigations desk was previously headed by John Kariuki who retired after 33 years of service.

Laikipia DCI chief Francis Wanjau was transferred to the Kisumu office while Bernard Gicheru was promoted to serve as the DCI Director of Operations.

The position had been held by Henry Ondieki who also retired.

Carrey Nyawinda has been promoted to serve as head of the Banking Fraud Unit. from his previous post as the DCI Deputy Head of Investigations.

Abdallah Komesha was transferred from the Banking Fraud Unit to the regional counter-terrorism centre of excellence.

The reshuffle is part of the wider reshuffles in the police service including the Administrative Unit with the aim of enhancing service delivery.

Other reshuffles include David Chebii who will serve as the new head of the call centre from leading anti-counterfeit unit based at Parklands.

Peter Kiboro is the new DCIO for Gigiri in Nairobi while Fatuma Hadi will serve in the Mazingira complex after serving at the helm of the Kilimani Unit.

Kasarani’s Jackson Owino has been redeployed to Garissa as the head of personnel.

The new changes were made on Monday, July 5 with the aim of securing the country ahead of the upcoming 2022 general elections.
