President Uhuru Kenyatta surprised a presenter at Ruben FM on Tuesday night, July 6, when he visited the radio station unannounced.

In a video obtained by Kenyans.co.ke, the President toured Mukuru Kwa Njenga slum and he stopped at Ruben FM while the ongoing Euro 2020 was being aired.

The radio presenter Shaffie Zele, spoke to Kenyans.co.ke on July 7, stated that Uhuru surprised him with the visit and conversed on which teams the Head of State was supporting during the ongoing competition.

"He came in unexpectedly while I was broadcasting the Euro. I asked him which team he is supporting and he told me Germany and he also knew they had been sent home but he stated that he will pick a new team in the finals," Zele explained.

The Ruben FM Presenter also requested President Kenyatta to grant him an interview and the Head of State promised to set up a date for the exclusive at State House.

Zele noted that although he was composed he still can't believe the encounter with Uhuru. He explained that he decided not to panic and handle the situation professionally.

President Kenyatta also addressed listeners and told Zele he had opted for a night visit to avoid large crowds which are super-spreaders for Covid-19.

In September 2020, Dennis Mudy, a reporter attached to MK TV went viral after a video of him crying while interviewing President Kenyatta hit the interwebs.

Mudy who spoke to Kenyans.co.ke stated that he had bagged a second meeting with the head of state.

He further revealed that his encounter with Uhuru was abrupt as the head of state ran into his crew while shooting an episode of his show, Hustle Mtaani.

"I was shooting one of my shows. Luckily, the president was inspecting Mama Ngina Drive. He passed by our location and he found me there.

"He was very impressed with me for travelling from Kakamega to Mombasa to interview small business people. He asked me what I was up to so I explained it to him. He was very happy and he challenged me to interview him," recounted Mudy.

That is when the young reporter was overcome with emotion at the sheer luck of being the chance of interviewing the president - every political reporter's dream - handed to him on a silver platter. In the brief once-in-a-lifetime encounter, he, unfortunately, was barely able to achieve his composure. Nevertheless, he says he does not regret what he affirms to be tears of joy.

In the video, Mudy discloses that Uhuru had promised to help uplift his media house and so the two scheduled a meeting.

Explaining his breakdown during filming, Mudy, who helped co-found MK TV, explained that they were tears of joy for he was overwhelmed after meeting the head of state.
