President Uhuru Kenyatta left the country early Wednesday, to attend the 13th Extra Ordinary Summit of Heads of State in Dar es Salaam Tanzania.
Kenyatta who touched down at the Julius Nyerere International Airport shortly after 11am, joins other East African Leaders in a special summit meant to seek an amicable solution to the weeks long bloody crisis that has rocked Burundi claiming over 20 lives.
Democratic Republic of Congo President Joseph Kabila, South Africa's Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and the US top diplomat for Africa Linda Thomas-Greenfield are also expected to attend the summit, The Standard reports.
Burundi's presidency is also said to have confirmed early Wednesday that President Nkurunziza was on his way to Dar es Salaam.
The special summit has been convened by East Africa Community Chairman President Jakaya Kikwete.
