A matatu driver and his conductor barely escaped with their lives as an angry mob turned on them after the matatu hit a boda boda in a fatal accident.
The boda boda rider died on the spot.
The matatu and the motorbike according to reports, collided along the Murang’a-Kangema road.
Although the rider died, passengers in the matatu escaped unhurt.
The crowd which quickly gathered at the scene of the accident is said to have attacked the driver and conductor of the matatu with stones and the avocados that were spilled at the scene, as the lifeless body lay on the ground.
The two managed to escape and the mob took out its anger on the 14 seater matatu, setting it ablaze.
No one was injured in the fire.
The Nation reports that Traffic Commander Silas Andiema confirmed that after escaping the angry mob, the driver later reported to the police to help with investigations.
Condemning the incident, Township Ward MCA Charles Karina who visited the scene urged residents to refrain from talking the law in their hands.
