KTN presenters have landed new roles in the caretaker team constituted by Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Sports, Culture and Heritage  Amina Mohamed to take over operations at the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).

News anchor Linda Ogutu is among those who have landed the plum job at the football body. She has been appointed as the head of the Secretariat to the committee that has also been formed through a report released on Thursday, November 11.

Linda is expected to serve in that position for a period of 6 months. The team has been tasked to undertake an inspection of the Football Kenya Federation which has been informed by the pathetic state of football management in the country.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Linda confirmed her appointment to the troubled football body.

"It is me who has been appointed to head the care taker FKF Secretariat. But I have not yet assumed the roles," she stated.

Robin Toskin is another KTN presenter who has landed a new role in the appointments made.  Toskin is currently the Head of Sport's desk at the Standard Group, and hosts Sports Chat, on KTN News every Monday morning.

He will also be part of the secretariat that will serve for a period of 6 months.

They will work under Retired Justice Aaron Ringera who has been tasked with the role of chairing the committee.

Their roles according to the report will include conducting all the affairs of FKF in accordance with its constitution, coordinate and ensuring smooth running of FKF’s operations including team preparations of all local and international sporting events, coordinate elections of FKF in accordance with the Sports Act and the Sports Registrar’s regulations and then Hand over FKF to the newly elected officials after a successful election.

The caretaker team takes over from Nick Mwenda's-led team, which has been forced out following the disbandment of the Federation.

Justifying the move to send them home, a report handed to CS Amina revealed that FKF had failed to account for funds and the beneficiaries.

"Over the past few years, the Football Kenya Federation has faced several governance issues that have been of great concern to the Ministry. First, the Football Kenya Federation has failed to account for all the monies allocated to it by the Government," the statement read in part.

"All beneficiaries of the Fund are as a matter of course trained on how to apply, utilize and account for the funds. The beneficiaries are also aware that they are required to fully disclose any financial assistance received from other sponsors. Football Kenya Federation has fallen short of this requirement."
