A Standard group Journalist identified as Samson Wire was allegedly attacked by armed goons on Tuesday, November 23.

The journalist who was covering an ownership dispute over a property near MP Shah hospital in Nairobi was attacked by a gang believed to have been hired by a private developer.

According to a report, machete-wielding goons forcibly snatched and smashed Wire's camera and threatened to further harm him had he not left the scene.

The attack that occurred close to Parklands police station, involved a heated exchange of threats and words, which left the journalist injured alongside others.

This follows after a law firm, Macharia Mwangi and Njeru wrote to the Inspector General of Police Hillary Mutyambai on November 11 to alert him on an attempt to grab land belonging to their client in Parklands.

The trio had informed the IG that a group of people had falsified ownership documents without the knowledge of the registered landowners.

In addition, they stated that the group unleashed goons to violently kick out tenants, take over the property and vandalize the residents after falsifying ownership documents and acquiring a new title deed property.

They further disclosed that the letter stamped as 'received ' had details stating that officers from Parklands and Gigiri DCI offices who had been invited to conduct investigations had been compromised.

The lawyer told the IG that their client had written to the Nairobi Metropolitan Services (NMS) and had not been given details to show that their client was the registered landowner.

“We have communication from the Nairobi Metropolitan Services confirming the lease of the property in dispute for our client was extended for another 50 years effective March 1, 2018," a section of the letter read in part.

The lawyers now want the Inspector General to order investigations into the matter and take over the case from DCI headquarters and a team of land fraud officers.

The National police spokesman Bruno Shioso stated that the matter was under investigation.
