A 35 year old man working as a herder was arrested in Kapsabet, Nandi County for allegedly defiling a two year old girl.
The man had been charged with picking the girl from a neighboring village where she had gone to visit relatives when the incident occurred.
On their way back, it started raining and the man took advantage, taking her into a house and raped her, Citizen Tv reports.
Angry residents caught him after the act and took him to Kipkaren Police Station where he was transferred to Kabiyet Police Post awaiting arraignment in court on Tuesday.
Similar cases have been reported countrywide and parents have been advised to do a thorough background check on employees they hire.
