The launch of the Universal Health Care (UHC) in Mombasa County by President Uhuru Kenyatta was marred with drama and laughter after a governor read the wrong speech during his address.

Embu Governor Martin Wambora, who is also the Chairman for the Council of Governors (CoG) on Monday, February 7, left conference attendees in stitches after he abruptly stopped reading his speech after realizing that he was reading the wrong speech.

The COG chair immediately apologised to the Head of State as he went to look for the right speech in his bag as the gathering, including President Kenyatta, burst into laughter.

On returning to the podium, Wambora apologised again stating that he had left the actual speech in Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe's car.

The two had earlier attended the opening of the International Health Workforce Conference (IHWC) at a hotel in the coastal city.

“Your excellency, this is the one that I read at the earlier event (IHWC). The other one I forgot in Health CS Mutahi Kagwe's car. But it is okay.” he stated.

After everything had settled, the governor went ahead to give his speech and was immediately followed by the Health CS who created another light moment out of that confusion.

“Hold on for a moment. I get all that has happened. Can you get it? Kagwe teased.

Earlier, Likoni MP Mishi Mboko also received a standing ovation from Uhuru after delivering a stunning speech on the president’s legacy projects.

An elated Uhuru was seen rising from his seat to greet the ODM legislator after praising Uhuru for his remarkable infrastructural projects and health projects.

"As mothers, we used to go to the hospitals for family planning, by the moment we heard about the Linda Mama, we are just adding voters regularly. We are delivering without any problem.

“Nairobi has become like Dubai in terms of infrastructure. Mombasa is also the same. He (Uhuru) will come and launch a project in my constituency that will help us in our movement to the city," she stated.
