A new video of the Forest Road saga has emerged showing that a police officer was at the scene of the incident on Friday, March 4.

The woman who had knocked down a boda boda operator was out of her vehicle and she was calling for help, while the officer tried negotiating with the rowdy boda boda riders.

While the besieged driver was screaming for help from the person on the other end of the boda boda operators were captured in the video pushing and shoving her and also inappropriately touching her.

Others were heard threatening to burn the woman's vehicle or even take her phone. Boda boda riders also asked the woman to assist the rider who had been knocked down.

However, the crowd was already charged since it took too long before their colleague who was writhing in pain could be rushed to the hospital.

In a statement recorded at Parklands Police Station, the boda boda rider sustained leg injuries. The report indicated that the boda boda operator blocked the 32- year-old woman's car abruptly, causing her to ram into it and leaving the rider with injuries.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i revealed that the woman is a diplomat and an employee of one of the United Nations agencies based in Nairobi.

CS Matiang'i was speaking to stakeholders in the industry on Wednesday, March 9, where he revealed that he has been receiving calls from senior individuals all over the world who were seeking explanations on the incident.

"That clip has done rounds around the globe and I have been called even by Kenyans outside the country and they are asking questions on when did we become animals to treat people like that. I have explained that clip more than I have ever explained any public policy in my life," the CS stated.

"The number of people who have called me, women leaders for the foreigners I keep telling them that Kenya I better than this. That is an incident that involved some people who don't represent us. This was on the eve of International Women's Day and it's embarrassing," he added.

President Uhuru Kenyatta ordered a crackdown on rogue boda-bodas across the country and warned against politicising the issue by claiming that the government is targeting small businesses.

While reprimanding the aggressors, the Head of State, underlined that it was unfortunate for boda boda operators to assault the woman, adding that they soiled her reputation and his administration will not tolerate such acts.
