Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi has broken silence over the Friday, April 1, incident in which the Azimio la Umoja presidential flag-bearer, Raila Odinga's chopper was pelted with his stones in Soy, Uasin Gishu County.
Speaking during a burial at Kaptum village,Megun Ward, Sudi apologised to Odinga over the incident, condemning the rowdy youths.
He added that those culpable should face the full force of the law, with fairness so that it does not appear to be selective justice.
"First and foremost, I'd like to say that in the Kalenjin tribe, we don't reach that level. So we apologise to Raila Odinga and his company. Currently, over ten suspects have been apprehended and that is the right path to follow," he noted.
Sudi recounted the time when the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) brigade faced the wrath of a section of hostile youths in Kondele, Kisumu county in a similar manner, noting that politics should not cause division in the country.
Seemingly welcoming the former Prime Minister, Sudi urged Raila to hold another rally in the county, and that he was ready to offer logistical support.
"When we were in Kisumu, we were pelted with stones in the same manner. So, I want to tell Kenyans that we all have a right to carry out his campaign in every part of the country."
"I want to tell Raila to come and hold his rally here and if you want I'll organise a crowd for you to clap for you as you state your manifesto. What was done was wrong and we apologise again to Raila," he stated.
Sudi was named alongside his Soy counterpart, Caleb Kositany, as the organizers of the chaos, according to the preliminary investigations by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).
The legislators have been summoned to the DCI offices as the police try to unmask more suspects for processing and possible arraignment on Monday, April 4.
"In view of the foregoing, the two legislators and County Assembly Speaker have pursuant to Section 52 of the National Police Service Act 2011, been summoned to appear in person before the Rift Valley DCI Regional coordinator on April 3, 2022, at 9 am, for further investigations into their involvement in the incident," read the DCI.
