12 million Fake KRA Stamps Nabbed

Over 12 million fake Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) stamps were on Sunday nabbed during the ongoing crack down on second hand generation brews.

During an operation at a residence in Scode area of Bahati, Nakuru County -that was led by NACADA boss John Mututho- the stamps and second-generation brews worth millions of shillings were destroyed.

According to Nakuru County Commissioner Mohammed Birik, they suspect the liquor was transported from Nakuru Town after the owner was informed of the impending operation.

The crack down on the brews has however been faulted over the chaotic manner in which the exercise is being carried out.

Citizen TV reports of a chaotic destruction witnessed at vine park industries in Thika where a fight broke out between residents and employees of the factory.

The scene turned chaotic as police were forced to shoot in the air in attempt to scare the rowdy youth, who vandalized factory equipment.

The destruction of illicit brews continues following a bold directive by President Uhuru Kenyatta that all second-generation brews be banned.
