His aim has been to nature the youth exposed to social evils such as drug abuse, sexual immorality, and theft among others. Speaking during a past interview, the journalist revealed that he settled on football as it unites people from different walks of life.

"Soccer is the only thing that brings people together. I decided that I should look for something that the youth will like.

"When the old generation comes together with the young ones for the tournament, they can be able to encourage each other that it is possible to stay on the right path," he stated.

His tournament features both boys and girls as both genders face harsh realities of social ills.

"The reason we have the women's leagues is that we also want the women to come and explain to the youth that when they lose their way, it is the mothers who suffer the most," he added.

As an incentive to the teams participating in the tournament, the journalist created various rewards from cash prizes, jerseys and balls.

Winners in the Rashid Abdalla Super Cup are entitled to Ksh100,000, 20 pairs of boots, one set of jerseys, soccer balls, medals and a trophy while the runners-up are entitled to a cash reward of Ksh30,00 and a soccer ball.

The third edition is set to commence tomorrow, Sunday, September 25 at the Kombani Ground, Kwale County, and will run all the way to December 2022.

"Every aspect of our society affects all of us. The prosperity of our community depends on our concerted effort. The Rashid Abdalla Super cup third edition will bring together 38 teams," he stated as he urged Kenyans to turn up.

Rashid is the husband of Citizen TV anchor, Lulu Hassan. The duo is behind famous Citizen TV soap operas Maria, Zora and Sultana.
