Gachagua has steadily maintained a track record of adopting trademark phrases synonymous with his campaigns and agenda.

Of great interest is how he's been able to punctuate sentences with a smattering of superlatives and decisive adjectives simultaneously.

Nicknamed 'Riggy G', Gachagua has consistently issued promises, and reinforced assurances while dismissing critics.

His rhetorical style as DP is arguably an extension of the administration model he employed while serving as a Provincial Administrator during former President Daniel arap Moi's regime.

By contrast, his energy is unmatched - his persistence unbaited as he trolls those who allegedly tortured him politically while assisting President William Ruto to manage Kenya's fifth government.

Here are Riggy G's trademark phrases:

Truthful Man

Rigathi Gachagua likes to assure his followers and investors that he'll keep his word. "I'm a truthful man," he'd say several times.

"That is the truth. Those who are not used to the truth, I am sorry. There is nothing I can do. I am a truthful man," Gachagua stated in an interview with NTV in September 2022, a few days after the inauguration.

The DP responded to critics who accused him of attacking the previous administration under HE Uhuru Kenyatta.

"Some Kenyans feel I am too truthful. That I shouldn't be truthful when visitors are around. But the truth is truth whether there are visitors or locals," he added in October 2022 in a meeting in Nairobi.

I'm a Hardworking Man

Gachagua identifies himself as a hustler, a dedicated politician devoted to serving the citizens.

Among his traits are commitment and a stickler for fitness.

"I come from a management background, I've been in public service for 15 years. I'm a hardworking man, I don't take alcohol. Therefore, I have all the time and zeal to serve the people of Kenya," the DP stated during the deputy presidential debate at the Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA) in July 2022.

He adopted the 'hardworking man' phrase in his subsequent speeches.

Busy Man

The phrase – 'I'm a busy man' is a statement that many argue may easily become a discourse marker that serves as a cue to his audience.

Linguists often associate such phrases with the public speaking art of grabbing the audience's attention.

State Capture

In his attempt to show paint former President Uhuru Kenyatta's regime as corrupt and one that attempted to subvert the people's will, Rigathi often employs a predilection for speaking in generalities.

The deputy president often uses the phrase to provoke a reaction in his audience – shock, dismay, or disgust at Uhuru's administration.

“Yes, it will come up in the commission for state capture. It’s a public contract, and Kenyans are entitled to know exactly what the details of that contract were,” Gachagua stated in October 2022 while promising to reveal the Standard Gauge Railway details.

“The people who lease the planes and who do repairs are overcharging because of State capture," he added a few weeks later in a TV interview while claiming that cartels were behind the decline of the state airline.

Dilapidated Economy

Kenya Kwanza's main agenda is the recovery of the economy. Gachagua has been hell-bent on trolling the former regime, which he accused of crippling the economy.

The DP always claims that the new administration inherited a dilapidated and broke government.

"I want to reiterate for the avoidance of doubt. We have inherited a dilapidated economy, and we have work to do to turn it around," he stated during an induction meeting with the task force formed to review the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC) in October 2022.

Mzee wa Kitendawili

The phrase, 'Mzee wa Kitendawili' is arguably Raila Odinga's designated title - as far as Gachagua's is concerned.

Gachagua always uses the phrase in a tactical smear campaign against Raila, his rival.
