An eight year old boy in a village in East Pokot has been continually chained to a tree for the past three years by an 84-year-old woman.
Kiringit, the mentally challenged boy, has known a harsh and solitude life. His scarred hands an evidence that no matter the weather, he remains tied to the tree.
The child is unable to play with others as he is said to be violent and tends to bite other children.
The eight year old boy is tied up to prevent him from running away.
84-year-old Chemket Angolei, says she is a good samaritan and the boy's father asked her to watch over his son after his wife passed away.
She explains that she must travel long distances to be able to find firewood and food to fend for the child and herself.
Unable to leave him with anyone else, the caretaker says she has no choice but to tie him to the tree.
Despite her old age, Chemket says she is ready to take care of the little boy.
