Kameme FM radio presenter Moses Kanyira was attacked by rowdy youth in Wamagana township in Tetu, Nyeri county.
The presenter was attending a meeting called to address the fight against illicit brew and second-generation drinks in the area.
Trouble began when Kanyira took to the podium to speak of the evils of the illegal alcohol.
Youth who outrightly disagreed with him turned chaotic and started hurling stones at him and his entourage.
His supporters came to his rescue and whisked him off to a safe destination.
According to K24. Tetu Deputy County Commissioner Herman Shambi arrived at the scene with security officers and calmed the crowd. The meeting was called off.
The fight against illicit brew has suffered setbacks from some youth who do not want the alcohol destroyed.
In some cases, the youth end up in altercations with police officers.
The nation-wide destruction kicked off after President Uhuru Kenyatta gave the directive in an effort to save Kenyans, especially the youth, from addiction.
The campaign has been highly intenisve in the Central Kenya region.
