Faith Kipyegon

Ask any athletics fanatic in the world who the greatest middle-distance runner of all time is, and Faith Kipyegon's name will likely pop up.

The mother of one has continued to inspire millions across the globe with her stellar performances in different disciplines, shattering records along the way.

One of Kipyegon's most remarkable feats this year was when she attempted to become the first woman to run a sub-4 mile at a special event dubbed Breaking-4 in Paris. While she fell short, she still set a personal best record of 4:06.42 in the mile.

That performance in Paris was a prelude of better things to come, as at the Prefontaine Classic in Eugene, Oregon, Kipyegon broke her own 1500m world record, clocking 3:48:68, improving by an impressive 0.36 seconds.

Further, in September 2025, the 31-year-old showed no signs of slowing down as she won gold once again in the women's 1500m, clocking a time of 3:52:15 in what was her fourth world title.

All her achievements were recognised through a nomination for the Laureus World Sports Awards 2025 in the "World Sportswoman of the Year" category.
