Irungu Kang’ata

Irungu Kang’ata has cemented his reputation as one of the country’s most impactful county leaders, emerging in 2025 as a governor whose policies directly improve the livelihoods of thousands.

Known for his hands-on approach, Kang’ata has combined strategic planning with citizen-focused programmes to transform Murang’a County.

In 2025, he launched the Ksh320 million annual “Inua Mkulima” subsidy voucher programme, designed to support around 41,000 milk and mango farmers.

The initiative provides cards that can be used for hospital bills, school fees, and agricultural inputs, creating a comprehensive safety net for rural households and strengthening the county’s agricultural sector.

Kang’ata has been recognised for his transformative approach to accessing clean water, ensuring that previously underserved areas now benefit from a reliable water supply. This has had a direct impact on health, hygiene, and overall quality of life for residents.

Healthcare has also been a major focus under his leadership. Through the “Kang’ata Care” programme, the governor has expanded access to essential medical services, improving the county’s public health indicators and ensuring that citizens receive timely, quality care.

Infrastructure development remains a hallmark of Kang’ata’s administration. In 2025, road upgrades and market expansions have not only improved connectivity but also opened new avenues for trade, particularly for farmers who can now access larger markets efficiently.

Irungu Kang’ata stands out as a transformative leader whose programmes in 2025 have combined innovation, accountability, and direct community impact, reinforcing his position among Kenya’s most effective county executives.
