
Lawrence Mugambi is a judicial officer who serves as a Judge of the High Court of Kenya in Nairobi.
He previously served as a Magistrate at Kapsabet, Sotik, Kangundo, and Milimani Law Courts, and as Chief Magistrate at the Anti-Corruption Court.
Mugambi also served as National Coordinator for Community Service Orders and as an Advocate at Nyaga Kamundi and Company Advocates.
Since he was appointed a High Court judge, Mugambi has made several landmark rulings, including a ruling in September this year in which he sentenced the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Gilbert Masengeli, to six months in prison for contempt of court.
The judge holds a Bachelor’s degree in Law from the University of Nairobi and a Postgraduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law, which he attained in 1999.
As a jurist, Mugambi has attended several high-level training sessions, such as the 9th Conference of State Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption in Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt, and the International Conference on Special Needs Offenders in Ontario, Canada.
Additionally, he has attended the Africa Regional Conference on Prisons and Correctional Services in Abuja, Nigeria, Continuous Judicial Education Training, and a workshop on International Protection and Refugee Law, among other crucial training sessions.
