
Munira is a researcher and writer with over six years of experience in human rights organisations.
She currently works with the Haki Yetu Organisation under the Land Programme in the coastal counties of Mombasa, Kwale, and Kilifi.
The programme aims to support communities in realising their rights within the context of implementing Chapter Five of the Constitution on Land and Environment.
Omar holds a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Nairobi, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma from the Kenya School of Law.
Her expertise lies in research and evidence-based advocacy, investigating, informing, and empowering communities.
She was the lead author and researcher of Housing For Who, which focuses on finding shelters for the urban poor within the government’s Affordable Housing Programme in Mombasa County.
Her work has laid the foundation for addressing contemporary land and housing injustices attributed to the government's Affordable Housing Programme.
