Salim Mvurya

Salim Mvurya is a politician who currently serves as the Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and Sports. He was appointed to this role in a cabinet reshuffle in December 2024, having previously served as Trade CS. 

In his capacity as the Sports CS, he oversaw the preparations and successful hosting of major events, including the Safari Rally and Africa Nations Championships (CHAN) that took place in August 2025. 

Mvurya has been at the forefront in pushing for the completion of the Talanta Sports City Stadium and renovation of Moi International Sports Centre in Kasarani, and Nyayo Stadium. 

Similarly, in June this year, he officially launched the construction of a modern sports academy in Machakos County, for Ksh55 million. The academy is expected to include football, volleyball, netball pitches and a social hall. 

He has also represented Kenya at international forums, such as the 5th Commonwealth Global Youth Work Conference 2025 and the 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministerial Taskforce Meeting, to discuss strategies for youth empowerment and share Kenya's progress.
